If you lost a migration card
Step 1. On the day you discover your migration card losing you need to contact the closest police station located near the supposed location where the document was lost. Additionally you need to inform the host representative (a landlord or hotel/hostel administration - if you live in one of the specified places) and the university staff about the loss of the document: the head of the dormitory complex (if you live in a dormitory), the Migration Office, the International Cooperation Department.
* If you do not speak Russian ask somebody for help to accompany you to the police station and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and provide assistance in translating and filling out documents in Russian.
Step 2. After submitting an application a police officer will issue a notification slip and inform you when you can get an additional certificate confirming loss of the document. To collect the certificate you need to contact the same police station.
Step 3. On the day of receiving a certificate from the police station you need to visit a local office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for migration issues (at the address of your place of stay/residence). The local office address can be clarified from the Migration Office staff, hotel/hostel administration or from a landlord (or search the information via the link).
You need to prepare the documents:
- certificate confirming loss of the document (issued by a police officer);
- passport and its copy;
- migration registration slip and its copy.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs staff will take your fingerprints and notify you about the date you can collect a new migration card.
Step 4. On the appointed day you need to visit a local office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and collect a new migration card.
Step 5. Inform the host representative (a landlord or hotel/hostel administration - if you live in one of the specified places) and the university staff about collecting a new document (send a scanned copy): the Migration Office, the International Cooperation Department. Prepare and submit documents for a new migration registration.
Step 6. After completing migration registration you need to send a new registration slip copy to the International Cooperation Department - international@mgutm.ru (only for foreign citizens living OUTSIDE the university dormitory).
If you lost a migration registration slip
Step 1. On the day you discover your registration slip losing you need to contact the closest police station located near the supposed location where the document was lost. If you lost a passport with study visa (visa entry regime)
Step 1. On the day you discover your passport losing you need to contact the closest police station located near the supposed location where the document was lost. Additionally you need to inform the host representative (a landlord or hotel/hostel administration - if you live in one of the specified places) and the university staff about the loss of the document: the head of the dormitory complex (if you live in a dormitory), the Migration Office, the International Cooperation Department.
* If you do not speak Russian ask somebody for help to accompany you to the police station and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and provide assistance in translating and filling out documents in Russian.

During a new passport application period you will be provided with a temporary identity document at the Consular Section of the Embassy. Information about the document-processing period should be clarified from the Consular Section of the Embassy staff.
Step 4. When collecting a new passport make sure you get a certificate from the embassy confirming the actual date of the passport collection.
Step 5. After collecting a new passport you need to inform (send the new document copy):
- the head of the dormitory complex (if you live in a dormitory), the Migration Office, the International Cooperation Department, the Student Office;
- a landlord or hotel/hostel administration (if you live in one of the specified places).
Step 6. To prepare necessary documents and apply for a new study visa you need to contact the Migration Office.
Please be informed that you must apply for a visa transfer to a new passport no later than 3 days from the date of new passport issuing. A new study visa can be issued before the previous visa expiration date only.
Step 7. After transferring a visa to the new passport you need to prepare and submit documents for a new migration registration.
Step 8. After collecting a new registration slip you need to send the new document copy to the International Cooperation Department - international@mgutm.ru (only for foreign citizens living OUTSIDE the university dormitory).
If you lost a passport (visa-free entry regime)
