1953 – The All-Union Correspondence Institute of the Food Industry is established. V.G. Krivosheev, formerly Deputy Minister of the USSR Flavor Industry, is appointed its first Rector.
1961 – Professor G.G. Agabalyants founds the Department of Winemaking Technologies. That same year, he is awarded the Lenin Prize for the development and implementation of continuous champagnization methods.
1963 – Professor N.P. Kozmina takes over as head of the Department of Bakery, Confectionery, and Pasta Production. The Department of Analytical Chemistry is also established, led by Professor Yu.A. Klyachko, Doctor of Chemical Sciences.
1973–1977 – Professor A.D. Zimon serves as head of the Department of Organic, Physical, and Colloidal Chemistry.
1969–1989 – The Institute is led by Professor G.V. Krugkov, Doctor of Technical Sciences. Colleagues and students remember him as a man deeply devoted to his work.
1991 – The Institute launches its full-time department.
1999 – The All-Union Correspondence Institute of the Food Industry is reorganized as Moscow State Technological Academy.
2003 – The institution attains university status and becomes Moscow State University of Technology and Management.
2008 – Professor V.N. Ivanova is elected Rector of the University. She is a recipient of the Government of the Russian Federation Prize in Education and served as a deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in its third and fourth convocations.
2009 – The university establishes research centers for water purification technology and quality control, as well as a center for food safety and market analysis. Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences L.A. Oganesyants becomes Scientific Director of the Department of Winemaking Technologies. The MSUTM – Schneider Electric Business School is also opened.
2010 – By decree of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the university is named after Count Kirill Grigoryevich Razumovsky, the first Russian president of the Imperial Academy of Sciences.
2011 – A basic department is opened at the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of the Bakery Industry, headed by Academician A.P. Kosovan of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
2012 – The university expands through the integration of several institutions: the Russian Correspondence Institute of Textile and Light Industry, the Russian State University of Innovative Technologies and Entrepreneurship, Moscow College of Information Technology, the Omsk Chemical and Mechanical College, and the Morozov Cossack Cadet Corps (Rostov region).
2013 – Agreements are signed with eleven All-Russian Research Institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences to establish basic departments, significantly strengthening the university's scientific profile. Notable academicians join the effort, including A.B. Lisitsyn, A.N. Petrov, and V.D. Kharitonov, along with Corresponding Members G.A. Belozerov and I.M. Blackie. Cooperation agreements are also signed with the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv, Mogilev University of Food, and Almaty University of Technology. Additionally, the university opens a new swimming pool featuring an all-metal basin and ozone-based water purification.
2014 – In accordance with Order No. 587 of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation dated May 26, 2014, the university is renamed Moscow State University of Technology and Management named after Kirill G. Razumovsky (First Cossack University). The "Storage and Processing 2030" section is created within the BioTech2030 Technology Platform. An academic Department of Business Technologies for Meat and Dairy Products is opened. Over 280 university students take part in catering services for guests and athletes at the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. S.A. Dankvert, Head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, becomes Chairman of the State Examination Commission.
2015 – The university admits its first cohort of students in the field of animal-origin raw materials processing technology.
2016 – A cooperation agreement is signed with the League for Secure Internet, leading to the creation of a Cossack cyber squad. An agreement is also signed with the Chinese corporation Kaishi to launch the "International Network University of Technology and Management of Asia-Pacific Countries" project. Student exchange programmes are initiated with Harbin Agricultural University and Dalian University of Finance and Economics.
2017 – The Russian-Scandinavian Centre for Research and Innovation in Aquaculture opens. A project-based learning strategy is developed for students. A cooperation agreement is signed with Cherkizovo Group. As part of their final bachelor's theses, students develop 80 projects for industrial enterprises. An agreement is also signed to establish a Chinese-Russian Institute of Nutrition in partnership with Tianjin University.
2018 – A continuous technological education cluster is created jointly with Cherkizovo Group, with students developing 121 projects for enterprises as part of their bachelor's and master's theses. The outcomes of project-based training are presented at the Rossiyskaya Gazeta media centre. A Robotics Centre for schoolchildren (Robolab) is opened within the Youth Innovation and Educational Centre (MSUTM – Cherkizovo). A cooperation agreement is signed with the First Sechenov Moscow State Medical University (Sechenov University) to implement the "Personalized Nutrition" project. An Association for Cooperation between Food Universities, Academic Institutions, and Employers (HEI – Research Institute – NOVOTECH) is established.
2019 – MSUTM students present their graduation projects in a startup format, with 800 students participating and over 150 projects developed. Students from Sechenov University also take part in the project work.
2020 – By order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Sergey Nikolaevich Chebotarev is temporarily appointed Rector of the university, effective October 8, 2020. Valentina Nikolaevna Ivanova is elected President of the University.
2021 – Sergey Nikolaevich Chebotarev is elected Rector of the University.
2022 – On August 18, 2022, by order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Arseniy Stanislavovich Mironov is appointed Acting Rector of Moscow State University of Technology and Management named after Kirill G. Razumovsky (First Cossack University).
2023 – By Order No. 10-02-02/125 of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation dated July 27, 2023, Arseniy S. Mironov, Doctor of Philosophy, is confirmed as Rector of Moscow State University of Technology and Management named after Kirill G. Razumovsky (First Cossack University).
